Sorry you misunderstood my intent. I did not write the song and only used the word
wretched as a broader since of feeling. I meant no harm but should have been more careful in my choice of words.
I lost my Dad, George T. Gale on October 7, 2009, this was played at his wake, this is beautiful, thank you. Kathy
Yes, I agree. Or anything else at all. I just wish people would just enjoy the song or any other song w/o being a jerk about it. Damn, I hate attention seekers.
Thank u for sharing this
Stunning and so moving….
this is so beutiful 5 stars
Great song&comfort to the heart
Good on you for posting this it dos’nt matter who you are you can still enjoy this great song.
A beautiful song, regardless of personal beliefs about the lyrics.
to use an old english saying… chin up
i wont pretend to understand totaly your grief…i have never lost a child, been through it with a friend who lost their daughter at 3, and another friend that lost ther son at 13 so have seen how it can effect people and it effects people differently, stop looking back and start to look forward and to remember your son with joy is the best way to honour his memory.
every one has the right to participate in life its how you go through it that counts.
Beautiful song.
Thank you, Youtube for reposting this…. it was removed for awhile. Such a beautiful hymn, a balm of Gilead to listen to and receive into the heart of man that is so desperately needed in the world today, and in the USA.
I do so love this song As I truly feel at one time in my life I was actually guided by HIS grace,
I do not feel there is anything wretched in my life, I just have troubled believing that I deserve to participate in this lifetime. I am happy that your life is so Blessed though.
Grief tends to be very hard for me to cope with.
srry to hearabout your son…. may he rest in peace.
but there is nothing wretched about my life… i feel it is blessed with a wonderfull wife and a great son.
please do not let your grief cloud your sight

WOW…Judy was amazing…what a soul…no wonder poor Stills always looked so sad……..
I first heard this in the film Alices Restaurant (Arlo Guthrie) in the late 60’s and was married to the tune in 1971. I haven’t heard this version for many years but is has lasted so well. Judy Collins has an amazing voice and this is still wonderful so please just enjoy it…..no matter what your race, colour or religion.
Wow I think I’ve never heard someone sing this song so beautifully before….
