Buddhsim is not Atheism, not all Budhists are Atheist, you make that assumption….. Atheists believe in metaphysical naturalism by DEFAULT. Furthermore, secular ethics fail because they have no justification for being objective, just an assumption that wouldn’t make it any different from religion. The difference is that religion actually has an objective stance which is a logical axiom in ethical philosophy. Just ask Kant.

as a student of Philosohpy I can tell you that the religious morality system is thoroughly broken and many of these “secular” morality systems are in fact perfectly fine as a basis for good behavior (Especially given that atheists are in fact less inclined to commit crimes then their religious neighbors suggesting something about religious morals)
It always amuses me that theists believe in things for which they don’t have a shred of evidence for, but attack those who believe in metaphysical naturalism despite all the evidence in favor of the existence of the nature world.
It also amuses me when Christians talk about morals when they can rape, loot and kill all they want but as long as they believe in Jesus then all is forgiven – while atheists who lead good lives go to Hell. That’s not morality, it’s a get out of jail free card!
*sigh* Atheism =/= metaphysical naturalism. Ask a Buddhist if their religion is just “metaphysical naturalism”.
Beside, even if morality can only come from a God – which is nonsense, morality has a naturalistic origin and is not absolute – this still would NOT prove the existence of God!
On another note: If atheists are so immoral, perhaps you would care to explain how some of the most atheistic counties in the world (eg. Sweden, Norway, Japan etc…) have the lowest crime rates in the world.
It’s a lack fo belief in metaphysical naturalism, which by default is the existance of God. Atheism is the lack of belief in Theism which by default makes you a metaphysical naturalist. Maybe you should try thinking further than just leaving it at that. sounds good, do we promise each other to think?
Atheists don’t have morality, it’s non-existant to them. Secular moral systems are a failure, morality is subjective, therfore non-existant in Atheism.

Atheism is the lack of belief in God – NOTHING MORE! Atheists do have morality, it just doesn’t come from God. Some Atheists do hold spiritual or supernatural beliefs (eg. Buddhists or Taoists), while many others don’t. Personally, I’m a Secular Humanist, but there are other secular moral systems out there. Look some up!
