Watch mantis nymphs hatching and molting. This is one of 89 videos featured in our interactive educational science software entitled Backyard Bugs. Available at www.totallybuggin.com
I once found a Mantis that was 12 inches. ya they do get that big.
So do they forever remain at level 11?
i once found an egg case in my schools courtyard
Lol!? Cute?? That’s not the word I would use to describe them xD
i only saw some at the zoo’s bug house but never again
were can yu find mantis ive looked everytwhere
i love them…they are so cute its always nice when i see one.
Fabulous video! I just found one yesterday that had rumpled wings. I think it had just finished molting. They are such interesting insects.
one of these crawled on my foot once. i was in southern spain. he was beautiful. bright green.
Cool video. I had 2 pet adult mantis last year, and one this year who is still young, he just molted an hour or so ago, its awesome. Still a “baby” no wings yet but it got much bigger after its molt. Her molt I should say, I can count her segments easily now that he has molted
it takes more time
Does anyone know how long it takes for all the eggs in a cocoon to fully hatch? I watched the mother lay the eggs this fall. In this climate, they Winter until it warms up. Just a few days ago I saw one live baby and two dead ones. Is it possible that the whole process takes a few days or do you think only one survived?
I swear Mantises look soo smart!
Life of a mantis is an intresting thing to see! those creatures are not like the other insects, they seem to have some kind of personality.I have see some here in greece and i have left one t climb on my hand they are so beautifull litle insects and i admire them alot.
toward it’s end it did, really mad mantis, I find the chinese mantis are the best and most friendly. I should be getting a male and a female on wednesday, it’s gona be great havin mantis again…
It really depends on their personality… Hey kreeddem , did yours act strange? I had a persian mantis, and it had always seemed really creepy, one day, I was holding it, and it attached it’s fore-arms to my skin, and wouldn’t let go! I let it sit there for 7 hours while I stayed on the couch! It looked like it wanted to bite me so i had no choice but to wash it off with some water, and release it
I figured out while reading some books that only 3 exotic species will bite you for no reason…
I had a europeen mantis and it bit me
wow when you see the praying mantis try to get out of the egg case it REALLY wants to!
I agree, awesome video!!!
This was great
i know they are harmless to us… but a big full grown one at a tennis court was staring at me with big purple eyes… then it attacked my face but did nothing… he was like “owned!”
Only one species out of the 2000+ bites. It is found in Korea. NO others will bite you
hey thats pretty good! I have two female praying mantids. one of them tried to kill the other. do you know how to take car of an injured mantis?
0_0 NEVER SEEN SO MANY NYMPHS
i got one of these things in my bak yard. cant wait for spring!
